Federico Grandicelli (Roma, 1982) is an Italian photographer living and working in Rome, Oslo and New York. He is drawn to experimentation and always strives to overcome the limitations imposed by photography’s two-dimensionality. Exploiting his scientific training as a physicist, Grandicelli uses chemicals, alcohol, minerals, fire and hot water to control the colour and the most unusual and surprising forms of the photographic process.

Shut into his darkroom, he succeeds in creating abstract landscapes that represent hitherto unknown sensations and perceptions.
