Juan Carlos Albarrán (Talavera de la Reina, 1963). Sculptor and ceramic artist. His ceramics skilfully adopt the centuries-old tradition of Talavera de la Reina pottery. At the same time, after a decade of collaboration with artists like Guille García-Hoz and José Manuel Hortelano, he has embarked upon an experimental journey with the Centro Cerámico di Talavera that has led him to start his own production. For Honos Art Albarrán has executed an exclusive series of four large plates, in a limited series numbered 1-10, entitled Icaro, Imago, Vanitas and Agora. He uses an iron-based overglaze technique with an initial firing at 1070º coated in a tin glaze and a second firing at 980º that gives the pieces a striking enamelled effect. In 2015 he won the Ciudad de Talavera VII International Biennial of Ceramics.
